Quand j’ai entendu parler qu’une collecte était organisée à la bibliothèque pour papa, j’ai vraiment été touchée par l’intention. Quand j’ai appris que cette collecte allait être utilisée pour acheter un banc qui serait placé devant le jardin d’iris, j’ai été encore plus touchée.
En effet, tous ceux et celles qui ont connu mon père savent que son plus grand plaisir était de rencontrer les autres. Apres le départ de maman, étant seul, et pour satisfaire son besoin de contact humain, il s’était fixé comme mission d’accueillir toute nouvelle personne étrangère qu’il croisait sur son chemin – c’est ainsi qu’il est devenu, avec Lisa Parnoix, membre fondateur d’Entente Cordiale.
Vous savez tous combien il aimait pratiquer son Anglais, son Allemand, voire son Russe, dès que l’occasion se présentait.
Merci à vous tous qui lui avez ouvert votre porte : ces moments d’amitié, de convivialité, d’échanges culturels, d’invitations à prendre un thé, une bière ou à partager un repas ont rempli sa vie et comblé sa solitude.
Un magnifique banc devant un jardin d’iris! Quelle superbe idée et quel symbole!
Un banc, c’est un endroit pour faire la conversation, pour évoquer des souvenirs, pour se faire des confidences, pour rire ou réfléchir ensemble, pour se reposer ou méditer devant la beauté de la Nature, et vous savez qu’il aimait particulièrement les iris.
Merci à mes amies jardinières qui ont transformé cette pelouse en un ravissant jardin au mois de Mai, merci à vous qui, par votre générosité, témoignez à ma famille votre amitié en gardant la souvenir de Roger Feugère vivant.

Dear friends
When I heard that a collection had been organised at the Library for my dad, I was really touched by the idea. When I heard that this collection was going to be used to purchase a bench to be placed in front of the iris garden, I was even more touched.
Indeed, all of you who met my father knew that his greatest pleasure was in meeting people.
After my mother died, alone and in need of human contact, he decided that his mission in life would be to welcome any foreigner crossing his path. This is how he became, with Lisa Parnoix, the founding member of ‘Entente Cordiale.’ You all know how he loved to practise his English, his German, even his Russian at every opportunity.
Thanks to all of you who opened up your home to him: those moments of friendship, conviviality, cultural exchange, invitations to share a cup of tea, a beer or a meal – filled his life and eased his solitude.
A beautiful bench in front of an iris garden! What a superb idea and what a symbol!
A bench is a place to chat, to evoke memories, to confide, to laugh and reflect together, to rest or mediate before the beauty of Nature. And you know he particularly loved irises.
A big thank you to my gardening friends who have transformed this lawn into a ‘thing of beauty’, especially in May.
A big thank you to all of you who, through your generosity, confirm your friendship towards our family by keeping the memory of Roger Feugère alive.
